Gold Moon Apartment

Application context

The apartment is nestled in the picturesque surroundings of the Lipno artificial lake, in southern Bohemia. The main inspiration for the project was the natural beauty of the Lipno Reservoir and of the surrounding Šumava. The moonlight reflecting on the water’s surface is translated into the interior through handcrafted golden lights. The stone used for the fireplace and bar island conceptually refers to the colors of the Šumava forests.

A smoky veneer underlines the apartment's distinctive atmosphere, while roughly hand-carved limestone washbasins and the faucets used emphasize the idea of maximizing craftsmanship and individuality within the interior.

The architects worked closely with the artists from the beginning of the project. Jakub Špaňhel designed the staircase wall motif, which is carried throughout the apartment. Using his unique roller-painting technique, he created a pattern that will never be replicated, permanently merging the apartment’s architecture with art. A mysterious sculpture by glass and design master Rony Plesl, created through a wood-burning technique, adds to the space. The sculpture, named Foculus, changes its color and appearance based on the sunlight’s angle throughout the day, underscoring the interior concept inspired by the Šumava landscape.

Customer requests

The clients gave the architects freedom to design without restrictions. The only request was to combine traditional family life surrounded by art with attention to relax and quality time spent with the family.

After the architects rethought the original layout, the apartment now has three bedrooms, two main bathrooms, two separate toilets, ample storage space and a small home cinema. In addition, it includes a two-storey living room with kitchen and two terraces, all on a total surface area of just 130 square metres.

Ekinex Solutions

The interiors incorporate unique technologies, such as concealed cooling integrated into the furniture, and wall-mounted controls and power sockets hidden in the stone cladding. The buttons in the refined FF series were chosen to blend in perfectly with the furnishings. The finish selected is an example of Mix&Match: metal frame in Brass colour (GBB) and buttons in Fenix NTM, in the colour Green Coomodore (FVC).
