FAQ - KNX System Device
What is line coupler and where is it used?
The Ekinex KNX line/area coupler connects two KNX data transmission lines and guarantees the galvanic isolation between them. This way, every bus line can work independently from the other lines, electrically speaking. Each line (sector line, main line, line) or line segment needs a dedicated power supply voltage.
What is an IP router and where is it used?
The Ekinex KNX IP router connects different KNX bus lines through LAN networks with a bidirectional communication. This way, it is possible to realize communications concerning an entire building or even a compound of buildings. The IP interface supports the tunnelling protocol and allows addressing, parameter settings, display, protocol and diagnosis of KNX bus devices through ETS. The connection to the data networks is carried out through RJ45 sockets.
What is the function of a USB interface?
The Ekinex KNX USB data interface with integrated bus coupler allows the connection of a PC to the KNX system for the addressing, programming and diagnosing of KNX devices. Communication between the USB/KNX interface and connected devices is handled through common EMI protocol; this protocol is designed for current and future applications.
What is the function of an IP interface?
The Ekinex KNX IP interface allows the coupling of a PC with KNX components for addressing and system internal diagnosis. The connection to the data networks is carried out through RJ45 sockets. The device is equipped with an integrated KNX bus communication module and is realized for 35mm DIN rail mounting.
